TOPSHOP UNIQUE FW14

Half on half off, Topshop Unique’s FW14 collection took undressing to a whole other covered-up level. Jackets falling off one shoulder are kept up only by being belted at the waist. A shoulder bearing dress is even seen worn over top a white shirt and black sweater vest. It is the layering here that truly makes this collection. Sweaters on top of shirts, dresses on top of slim knits, vests over turtlenecks all topped off with winter coats. This season, three layers are better than just having two. Pairing outfits with knee high suede boots or shoes worn with a scrunched sock keeps the look relaxed. This casual vibe is carried throughout the show through to how the models clutch on to their handbags instead of carrying them by the handle. This girl may not look high maintenance but receipts from a day of shopping may show otherwise.

Quarter sleeved jackets and pullovers let what’s underneath shine through. Our favorite is the printed pullover worn over top a cobalt blue dress and burgundy turtleneck. Shorts get a winter makeover when they are as puffy as your down filled jacket. However, winter classics such as leather and fur still remain. But if you must try one new piece this season let it be the culotte. The neutral pair here looks great paired with color blocked fur and burgundy booties. If this collection teaches us anything it’s that everything old can be new again this season. But, it’s all about presentation. All you have to do is put it all on at once. Happy layering!
