READY TO WEAR – FALL/WINTER 2013 COLLECTION STATEMENT
GOTHIC RENAISSANCE
Half angel half demon, a willful woman yet touched by grace. For Winter, the new muse of Zuhair Murad is quite in contradiction, a double personality with a chic halo around her devilishly gothic. Between the power of decision and the power of seduction, she chooses both.
Double trouble. Transparencies and boudoir accents stir up seductive trouble for resolutely determined allures: an architectural sheath dress with touches of tulle or strokes of guipure, a masculine pair of tuxedo pants, but underlined with a lace ribbon, clear lines that open on a lingerie corset, energetic draping topped off by a bodice with the finesse of a tattoo… Skin deep, everywhere the silhouette show-cases charismatic light and dark effects.
Strong and sensual. In duos and even duels, fabrics convey sensuality: leather and lace, velvet and tulle, brocade and stretch, but also macramé guipure and satin, jacquard and sequins, ultra-light chiffon and intense florals… From one extreme to another, the approach is high profile and sophisticated, contemporary multi-facets of the most eternal luxury.
Shadows and lights. A stunning and graphic Glamourama. Decors, motifs and colors suggest the most romantic overtones: black and white with a poetically variable geometry, wild red, dark burgundy, daring stripes and polka dots, glossy sequins with rock n’ roll accents, embrace of flamboyant flowers inspired by the paintings of Jan Van Eyck. The atmosphere fills out with a radiant memory and gothic echoes.
