Prints yet again reign supreme with J.Crew’s FW13 collection. That’s right ladies, some runway style is being brought to the masses by your favorite accessible brand. J.Crew always does a great job with office ready staples and this collection jazzes those staples up. There were two prominent looks here: laid back chic and artsy office. Laid back chic, think thin minimalistic sweaters paired with slim trousers or sophisticated skirts. Accessories such as printed baseball caps and wool scarves give these pieces great street style appeal. Pairing these laid back looks with day clutches elevates the look to date night worthy. It’s the look when you want to look effortless yet completely put together, leaving others to wonder “how did you do that?”
Cropped pants are a must this season; the pinnacle of the artsy office look. In eye-popping prints and luscious fabrics like brocade, they were worn as a suit or separate with tailored shirts or contrasting prints. That little pop of ankle leaves room to show off those ankle strapped heels that are oh-so-trendy. Printed suits in bold colors, skirt and blouse combinations in neons and mismatched exotic prints (tied together by the same color palette of course), and ornate necklaces and heels all redefine the office staples (pun intended). It’s proof that print head to toe is the way to go. Elbow length gloves remain in style. Worn with short sleeves, the supple leather looks chic and classically sexy when a dash of skin remains uncovered. Classic lines mixed with foreign opulence takes J.Crew from American basics to fashion forward trends. When did J.Crew get this cool!
