The bandage dress isn’t just a bandage dress anymore. Complete with zippers, ruffles, cutouts and adornments, Herve Leger has taken his signature dress to the next level this SS14 season. Continuing to incorporate a new season staple – leather – from last season’s collection, crochet and beading was added to this year’s collection to spice up that signature banding. Zippers created cutouts to reveal skin as well as extra layers of fabric to create flounce and bounce. Show a little more or show a little less, the wearer now has control over how body conscious they wish to be. Thick ankle strap heels continue the banded look.
Leather corset belts add more structure to the look in a very big way, at times covering almost the entire torso. Focusing on more separates this year instead of a collection made entirely of dresses and swimsuits, the Herve Leger brand is evolving. Looks inspired by Polynesian body art closed the show. It’s great to see a brand that knows who they are yet is able to continually surprise year after year.
