Icons of Style Awards Cocktail Reception 2013
Eva Mendes had a very fashionable week — first launching her clothing line for New York & Company on September 18th followed by being honored at the Icons of Style Awards Cocktail Reception.
Last Wednesday, Eva celebrated her upcoming collection with New York & Company at their New York Flagship store. The collection featured feminine dresses in rose shades and patterns and classic work friendly separates in black lace, leopard print, burgundy and khaki. Hannah Bronfman provided the music for the night wearing a soft pink camel coat from the line and Eva looked stunning in a trendy black and white ensemble. The first 50 shoppers were lucky to get a photo with Eva Mendes and other guests enjoyed passed hors d’oeuvres and champagne. The collection is available in select stores and online.
On Thursday, Eva was honored with the Mujer Vanidades award at the Icons of Style Awards Cocktail Reception at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The event was hosted by Televisa Publishing and Chiquinquira Delgado and Roselyn Sanchez served as the mistresses of ceremony. Oscar de la Renta was the Guest of Honor and Iconic Man of Style. Some other stylish honorees included Jorge Posada of the New York Yankees, handbag designer Adriana Castro, and actor Sebastian Rulli. The celebration kept going late into the night at the Ralph Lauren Polo Red After Party at the Stone Rose Lounge.
On the red carpet I got a chance to speak with Selenis Leyva, one of the stars of the hit show, Orange is the New Black. She looked gorgeous wearing a sequined black and white Carmen Marc Valvo gown. She told us a little bit about what is in store for her character, “My role is Gloria Mendoza and I am one of the ‘chickas’ on the show. Viewers will see that I end up at a very good position at the end of the season taking over the kitchen which is a really big deal in jail because you have some power.” She said she was excited to be attending the awards show and seeing Henry Posada of the New York Yankees, Eva Mendes, and Oscar de la Renta but also getting to dress up. She said, “I miss fashion on the show because we wear combat boots and jump suits so it’s really not that attractive. So whenever we have a chance to get dolled up and wear a dress and heals I take advantage of it to the fullest.”
