Fashion fans filed into the parking lot of Saks Fifth Avenue in Chevy Chase last Wednesday night — not to get into their cars and drive home after an evening of shopping, but to see one of the most iconic names in fashion — Diane von Furstenburg. With warm weather finally upon the nation’s capital, guests showed up in the best of spring trends with brights, prints, and strappy sandals galore. A large white tent with a leopard print lit ceiling kept guests from the heat. The room roared in applause as Diane von Furstenberg herself entered to take a seat in the front row to watch the show.
Before the show, guests sat captivated listening to her tell her story of entering the fashion industry, moving to the US, developing her own label as a young woman and its evolution over time. Diane von Furstenburg is a true model of what women can achieve.
Supporting women since the beginning of her career, Diane continues to do so as a board member raising awareness and money for Vital Voices – vitalvoices.org – an organization that helps provide women the professional expertise, access, and networking skills needed to succeed. Hosted by Saks Fifth Avenue and Capitol File Magazine, 10% of the sales during the event benefited Vital Voices. Diane joined guests inside Saks Fifth Avenue after the show for an evening of charitable shopping.
DVF’s FW13 collection’s “Glam Rock” style brought back the 70’s and your inner diva. Leopard print, glimmering gold, jumpsuits and peasant sleeves, this collection was youthful, flirty, and 100% wearable.
