Inspired by urban skate boarders, 90’s fashion and creative city style, the contemporary art scene added sophistication to an “adrenaline driven world” to Diesel’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection. This could be seen by the use of moto styled jackets and classic menswear blazers in the same collection. Masculine pieces were softened by feminine shapes such as collared shirts and blazers with textured mini skirts, menswear pants with cute jackets and tasseled belts added along side tough chains. Edgy dresses and skirts made out of netting were paired with fringed heels and a combination of netting and leather were used to create a contrast between transparent and opaque.
White and black was the chosen color palette, with hints of pastels and skate park graffiti inspired prints scattered throughout. An attention to details was an obvious focus of this collection. Chains, zippers, straps and belts left no garment unadorned. Pants even had tape added to the bottom for a little sportswear functionality. Although the color palette was simple, it allowed for a detailed collection to still somehow appear subdued. As always Diesel kept it youthful and luxurious.
