Tell us about your work.
Research, inspirations, color choices, trends, fabrics, etc. all go into creating a successful collection. All of it starts with a vision – something – and anything can inspire me and then I make that vision come alive.
What was the experience like to show your collection at Lincoln Center during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York?
Showing at Lincoln Center during MBFW was a dream come true for me. To share my vision for the collection is indescribable – I just couldn’t have it any other way. I have to tell the story.
Can you tell us a little bit of what to expect for the F/W 2012 collection?
F/W 2012 was inspired by the 1940’s, and the woman’s role during the war. I am always inspired by strong women.
How do you find the balance between managing your business and being creative as well as spending time with your family?
I’m naturally creative – which certainly makes it easier to juggle my family and my work. You have to be focused and organized – but able to have fun too.
What inspires you to do what you do and what inspires you to keep doing it?
I do what I do because it comes natural. This is all I’ve ever done – arts and fashion is my creative outlet. I love my job and if I didn’t I wouldn’t do it. I don’t believe in doing something that makes your life miserable or a chore. Life is too short – do what you love – if it is successful, then that’s a bonus.
