Title: Owner and Designer, EMERSON
How do you feel about fashion week?
This is my third collection showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. I am really excited about this show. I think it is just the anticipation building up like I can’t wait to get here and once I do I feel great. I’m excited and there are a little bit of butterflies, but it is all excitement.
What is your line about?
I think there is a good mix between rock and roll style and sophistication and girliness all in one. So it just kind of translates from season to season. There is a little bit of a dark feeling I think in each collection that I have done but there is also a light and girly feel to it.
Tell us about some trends in your S/S collection.
My first fabric that I ended up getting was a red velvet flocked tulle and my inspiration for the season was 70’s horror movies and it just made me think of Carrie. Just from there I did a lot of black and whites, I love to use a lot of contrast, it’s definitely my most colorful season. I’d say blacks, whites, reds, and blues are the main colors. There are maxi skirts, there’s a very 70’s feel, but it is modern at the same time. I added a few gowns which is a first time for me. I think this is my best season yet.
What is unique about you as a designer?
I think I am doing something different than what is out there. It’s that girly feel that is mixed with bit of a gothic feel and rock and roll.
Where can people buy your collection?
Right now we are really excited because we just launched e-commerce on our website and then I have Louis Boston and another specialty store called Stash in Newton, Massachusetts.
