Glam Rock was the title of Diane von Furstenburg’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection and there was certainly no denying that. Leopard print, rich suede, metallics, velvet, fur — if it’s glamorous, it was there. Female power was an undeniable message as the collection was set to music that sang it loud and clear. An icon in 70’s dressing, this collection was a best-of-the-decade gone modern. Bold prints on easy dresses make the perfect outfit for women on the go. The dress is the ultimate outfit in one and with these statement-making prints, you don’t even have to remember to wear accessories. These dresses, whether wrapped or paneled, speak for themselves. Printed pants made their way down the DVF runway as well. Slim and tailored and paired with printed blouses, you can take the subdued gray outfit with an overcoat to the office and save the leopard with metallic animal print blazer for a night out. Silk jumpsuits in dainty prints cinch at the waist to create the perfect figure flattering silhouette. The ease and flow of a dress, with the added bonus of a pant, will show off all your best “assets”.
Slim gold jeans were paired with dark neutrals to keep the outfit from becoming overpowering. You can’t deny that two metallics together are better than one and when paired with sleek black fur, you have the outfit of a rock star. Wide leather belts show off the waist with bohemian flair; the perfect accessory for loose tops and blousen dresses. Overall this collection taught us that animal print suits every age, metallic is the newest neutral, and the wrap dress is never out of style.
