Christian Siriano’s SS14 collection was a whole other level of lovely. Inspired by a recent trip to Mexico — flowers, basket weave prints, raffia and bright hues made their way down the runway. Lace tops and sheer fabrics lightened up the layering. Sheer blouses worn over midriff bearing tops add the effort of a layer without the heat of extra fabric. Yes, that’s right, midriff tops are still in ladies so keep-up those crunches throughout the fall. The summer suit is still trend worthy when worn printed in the short and cropped pant versions seen here.
Bright silks had ruffles that flounced and tails that flowed, reminding viewers of that cool Mexico coast breeze. Basket weave prints and raffia added structure amongst the light florals and silks — such a great way to replicate the breezy atmosphere along with the raw natural materials of the city. Ruffled, feathered and floral gowns took us from day to night time wear that we all know and love from Siriano. Floral appliques added great dimension to light as air gowns.
It’s all in the details for Christian Siriano and if there is one thing we have all come to know and love about his collection is that he never forgets to serve up a marvelous assortment of shoes. The black and white beaded fringe and coral and turquoise studded pairs, were to die for. The shoes were truly the icing on the cake.
