Notoriously feminine, Lela Rose’s FW13 collection was nothing but. A touch of whimsy, bed-head haired models seemed to be the stuff dreams are made of. Used as embellishments to add youthful appeal, tiny buttons decorated peplum tops and tiny jackets. Stripes and geometric prints in the grown-up version of sherbet shades gave these looks the ounce of sophistication they needed to keep from looking too elementary. Even the most sophisticated floral jacquards and printed silks couldn’t help but look artsy and daytime appropriate when worn with playful socks.

Strappy heels ushered in evening wear with an abundance of lace and sheer detailing. Don’t be afraid to show off a bit of skin this season, whether peaking through sheer fabrics or popping out-of-shoulder baring numbers. Organza flowed and feathers flew down the runway. Bright pink was like blush to the cheeks and brightened the collection. Even trends from the spring rolled over into fall with the sweater-over-long-gowns look. We may all have to grow up at some point, but at least with this collection we don’t have to completely lose everything we loved about our youth.
