HAUTE COUTURE FALL-WINTER 2013/14
On July 2nd 2013, Karl Lagerfeld presented the 2013-14 Fall-Winter Haute Couture collection at the Grand Palais.
Set in a deconstructed dilapidated theater, the stage featured the backdrop of a megapolis with futuristic elements, with which the designer delivered a new vision of the kinetic and unveiled graphic contemporary silhouettes with a play on studied transparencies.
In a palette of white and black with hints of gray, dark blue, beige and light pink, the allure of this season is defined by the play of a juxtaposition of layers. The dresses, tunics and jackets work together as a trio, each silhouette defined by a belt and made from ribbon tweed, suede, tulle or silk.
Jackets with pointed shoulders and narrow sleeves or rounded shoulders and wide sleeves; stiff collar or crew neck; supple pencil skirts or pleated A-line; long and fitted or long and flowing; sharp contours or enveloping volumes, the collection has an infinite modernity and is full of variety.
The skirts and dresses with a 3D effect – embroidered with sequins or metal flowers, tiled with crystals, painted with geometric circles and lines – create a hypnotic and playful vision.
A collection that was applauded by the guests amongst which there were singer Rihanna, actresses Kristen Stewart, Carole Bouquet, Milla Jovovich, Rose Byrne, Virginie Ledoyen, Clémence Poésy and Alma Jodorowsky, CHANEL ambassadors Vanessa Paradis, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey and Zhou Xun, directors Baz Luhrmann and Olivier Assayas, actors Michael Pitt and Bobby Cannavale, as well as Natalia Vodianova and Ines de la Fressange.
