With inspiration from the 1940’s sophisticated lady, the show-never-to-be-missed-by-Anna-Wintour swayed down the runway. Confident, sexy, and chic, the models’ twisted up-do’s revealed chiseled cheekbones and a dusty simplicity. Fur is the word and it didn’t just appear on jackets, but on trim lining the waist, collars, and bodices. A green fur coat and fuchsia collar were welcome pops of color to an otherwise sophisticated color palette. Not to mention — color is the new way to wear fur.

A wearable to work collection filled with suits and separates are made of heavy tweeds and wool. Fun furs and floral silks in brighter and lighter colors add sass. Classics like slim fit turtlenecks, longer hemlines, and bow tie blouses can be worn by the working women by day and slim fitting dresses in youthful fabrics by night. Never underestimate the power of a dress or well fitting skirt suit; it’s the mark of a confident and commanding women. Turn back the clock and look as effortlessly elegant and sophisticated as your favorite war time movie actresses in Carolina Herrera’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection.
